My name is Chuck Fanaro. I am the founder and developer of Saddlebrook Farms. I want to share with you why Saddlebrook Farms exists, and, if you are 55 years old or over, why Saddlebrook Farms represents more than just a new home. It offers a unique lifestyle. It’s the kind of lifestyle that people who have worked hard all their lives deserve to enjoy.

Saddlebrook Farms is the result of over 20 years of experience — 20 years of my life thinking about and observing the needs of relatives, friends, and people in general who were entering what should be a new and exciting time of their lives.

I watched my family and friends grow older, and their needs change. Their children had left home and were out on their own. Some owned big houses that aged right along with them; maintenance and upkeep took more and more of their time, energy, and money. Costs were going up and retirement income threatened to go down.

My own father discovered his knees didn’t like going up stairs as they once did; his back resisted shoveling snow; and mowing the lawn was a big pain. He looked around the area where he had lived for so many years and realized it no longer fit his idea of “the good life.”

Now, don’t misunderstand, I know change can be good. It is natural and a fact of life. But, clearly, there had to be a better way for my father to spend his days and his money. So we sat down and made a list of his “wants and wishes.” I would like to mention just a few.

  • A home, not an apartment.
  • An attached garage where he could unload groceries without struggling with stairs or bad weather.
  • A place where he could be active, yet not be burdened with upkeep and maintenance.
  • A home and lifestyle that he could afford comfortably.
  • An environment that was safe and, if there was an emergency, someone would respond quickly.
  • Neighbors who weren’t rock musicians and who didn’t have children prone to skateboarding or riding ten-speed bikes in the path of his daily walks.
  • And, most importantly, he wanted some assurance that the community in which he lived would always maintain its standards.

As I talked to others in this age group, I confirmed that their “wants and wishes” were similar. As I listened to them tell me their stories, I knew they deserved to have the same things. After all, they worked hard, they had gone to war, they raised their children, they stayed out of trouble, and they had made their contribution to society. It was time for them to relax and enjoy life. Yet, where could they go without compromising their lifestyle and their pocketbook?

For all these reasons, Saddlebrook Farms was born. It was conceived and designed to meet the changing needs of people like my father — and, perhaps, people like you.

At Saddlebrook Farms, you will find safe, quiet, and friendly neighborhoods with plenty of fresh air, beautiful sunsets, and acres of land for healthy walks and bike rides. You will have caring neighbors who are quick to laugh and quick to share; and, equally important, you will find that someone is always there to lend a helping hand when you need one. Plus, with no
grass to cut and no snow to shovel, you will have plenty of free time to do all of those things you’ve always wanted to do.

You can play a game of bridge or pinochle in the lake lodge or read an old classic in the library. Share community amenities with your family and friends — picnics, paddleboat rides, ping-pong, horseshoes, fishing, and old-fashioned fun. You can reserve the lake lodge for a special event, anniversary celebration, birthday party or family reunion. Potluck dinners, bingo, and sing-a-longs are favored events.

At Saddlebrook Farms you will live in a brand new ranch home: no stairs to climb up from the basement or up to the second floor, and no elevators to wait for. You will enjoy the convenience of an oversized attached garage with plenty of room for storage and a front porch where you can share a cup of coffee and conversation with friends. This is the lifestyle found at Saddlebrook
Farms. Also, you can design your new home to meet your personal tastes and needs. We offer the highest quality construction, name brand appliances and cabinets, a fully landscaped home site, and choice of a very wide range of options and upgrades.

Saddlebrook Farms can improve the quality of your life — at an affordable price. It is a community of people with interests and experiences similar to your own. It provides services with on-site management that will give you peace of mind.

I hope that I have given you enough information about Saddlebrook Farms to stimulate your interest. Now it’s YOUR turn. Sit down with one of our representatives and discover what Saddlebrook Farms can offer you.

I hope to see you soon.

P. S. Folks have asked me if my father ever lived at Saddlebrook Farms. Unfortunately, he moved to heaven before the community he inspired became a reality. I’m confident he would have loved it here.

Seniors Caught in a Catch 22.

“Too many seniors are caught up in a Catch 22 today which is sure to have a negative impact on their lives in the long haul,” says Chuck Fanaro, owner of Saddlebrook Farms, an active adult community in Grayslake, Illinois. He has been working with the 55-plus market for over 30 years and says he has never before seen a convergence of circumstances that exist in today’s real estate market.

“There are people out there who absolutely need to move. They are struggling with too many stairs, unsure of how much longer they can afford to maintain their home, and unable to keep up with the maintenance issues. However, they can’t sell their home, at least not for the price they are willing to accept.”
